“Is there a way to not feel so overwhelmed & stay awake all night plagued by work stress?” asked my client who works in IT sector. My answer is Yes.
Stress hormone gets activated when we feel circumstances are out of our control. The key is to understand that for everything you can't control, there is generally something you can control. When everything seems to go haywire, try to keep your focus on your present & stay grounded.
Poor nutrition & insufficient sleep can stress your system. Eat a low sugar, high protein diet and ensure you get at least 6 hours of sleep every night. If you are too stressed out to fall asleep, practice a simple breathing technique that can help you quickly fall asleep: Cover your left nostril & breathe through your right for a couple of minutes & then repeat on the other side.

With quickly changing priorities & competing deadlines, it's critical to define what is important and what is not. Maintaining a list of priorities can help you stay focused, & gain a better sense of purpose. Besides, it can be super satisfying to tick things off as you complete the tasks, giving you a feeling of control over your workload.
Make sure you take some time out to relax & unwind so that you can come back feeling replenished & reinvigorated. Even if you are unable to take a vacation, try to get a quick boost by focusing on non work activities for a while.
